Uncertain Gaze

In the series of works titled Overzoomed Identities and The Uncertain Gaze I was exploring the distance needed to recognize a portrait. This perceptual distance is responsible for both the isolation and the visibility of the individual. I made close-ups of faces as if they were near to the viewer but by omitting the details I made them indefinite. I attempted to express the impossibility of displaying an identity in a portrait with extreme simplification of painting apparatus, thus the figural reference can be seen from afar.
